Inspiration & Context
The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) film is set on Earth-828 — an alternate 1964 where the Fantastic Four are beloved celebrities, technology has leapfrogged ahead, and the world is at peace. Director Matt Shakman described the aesthetic as 'if Stanley Kubrick made a Fantastic Four movie in 1965.' The visual language draws from: Syd Mead's future utopias, Eero Saarinen's sweeping mid-century architecture, the 1964 New York World's Fair, Jack Kirby's original comic art, and Disney's Tomorrowland. The palette operates in two registers: cool space-age blues and silvers for the exterior/technological world, and warm brass/wood tones for the interior/human moments.
